The resurrection, according to St. Mark (16:1-8) is a funny kind of ending. The women who find the empty tomb and hear the word that Jesus has risen are too scared to tell anyone. “Christ is risen” leads to no boisterous response, “He is risen indeed.” Instead, it is silence. Crickets. Nothing. The good news in Mark is that God in Christ will do anything to reach us. This God will break down every barrier that keeps us from being loved, accepted, and renewed.
