John 3:16 is one of the most known verses in the New Testament. It is part of the story of Nicodemus, who approaches Jesus one night to size up this miracle worker. Why does he need the cover of darkness? My guess is fear… of many things. His fear keeps him in the dark and his faith in the closet. All the while, Jesus is offering something that gives light – the love of God. Why do we prefer darkness to light? Fear to love?
