Despite the fact that this was, indeed, a strange Easter, perhaps this is the year in which we discover anew that the true gift of Easter is that it makes the unknown known. In the unknown, we find that fear can still take control and win the day. But because of Easter, we live in the certainty of the presence of the One whom even death could not contain. We live in the light of the Risen Christ and so we rest in the assurance that God will continue to show up even in the midst of our doubts, our fears, and those times when we just can’t believe. God, not death, light, not darkness, have the final say. Christ is risen, indeed. Alleluia!
