Good Friday is among the holiest days of the Christian faith. Adorned by the cross alone, we encounter a Crucified Savior. Why must he die? What does Jesus’ death have to do with my life? Those are the questions at the heart of Good Friday. In the Gospel of John, Jesus says three things before he dies. They help reveal why the cross stands at the epicenter of an earth-shaking revelation of God. In the cross, we hear words from the Word made flesh that address us in this age of isolation, suffering and death.
